I may have just gushed about the things I love about winter. But winter literally destroys my skin and I hate it. I have to double up on my lotions, moisturizers, and exfoliants. Last year I got into the Ocean Salt scrub from Lush. But that stuff is a bit pricey and I'm too lazy to go all the way to the mall to get more when I run out.
Now that it's crusty season again, and I'm out of my salt scrub I decided to look into homemade body scrubs. I found so many recipes on Pinterest of all different scents and colors. I decided to test out a simple sugar scrub.
I combined 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of coconut oil, 3 tsp of cinnamon and 2 tsp of vanilla. And boom it's done!
I stored mine in my old Lush container that I cleaned out just to reduce, reuse, recycle, but a mason jar works just as well (and looks a lot cuter).
I tried it out in the shower a few hours after making it cause I was too excited. This works just as well as any fancy body scrub from a beauty supply store, and it's so much cheaper. It feels kind of doughy when you scoop some out of the container. I definitely noticed softer skin after one use. Plus it makes you smell like a cookie!! I would defs recommend making this for yourself.
